The Importance of Accreditation to Plastic Surgery Practices
Our plastic surgery team takes great pride in the fact that our on-site operating room is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, Inc., or the AAAHC. This means that we are held accountable to a higher standard of detail, safety, and patient care. We know how important it is to ask questions and learn as much as you can about any practice before allowing them to treat you. The purpose of the AAAHC is to examine practices and gather information, so you don’t have to.
Why Have an On-Site Operating Room?
Though other practices may find that it is easier to perform their more intensive procedures off-site, we have found that having an OR that is exclusively ours makes more sense for our patients. By cutting down on overhead costs, we can pass those savings on to our patients, which is much more rewarding for everyone!
The AAAHC certificate of accreditation is a sign that our health care organization meets or exceeds nationally recognized standards.
Some of the aspects that the AAAHC examines when inspecting a healthcare organization include:
- Patient rights
- Quality of care provided
- Quality management and improvement
- Facilities and environment
- Professional improvement
- Clinical records and health information
- Surgical and Anesthesia services
- Infection prevention and control
