A woman may have many reasons for wanting a labiaplasty procedure. Some have experienced labial stretching or tearing during childbirth. Others may suffer from labia minora hypertrophy (enlargement of the labia), a condition that can cause irritation and discomfort during physical activities, including sexual intimacy. Dr. G’s labiaplasty is a simple procedure that can improve the appearance of a woman’s vaginal region and give the labia a more proportionate and balanced look. After all, you deserve to feel confident about every inch of your body.
It can be difficult to discuss the appearance of this most intimate area of your body with anyone, but we can assure you that you will have complete the support and discretion from our practice.
Here are some of the common reasons about why a woman is considering labia reduction:
- I’m self-conscious about how I look
- I have discomfort during sex and athletic activities
- I have discomfort when wearing form-fitting clothing
Are You A Candidate For Labiaplasty in San Diego
It is not uncommon for women to feel sensitive about having prominent or uneven labia. Some women have always had larger labia, while others have seen a physical change after pregnancy and childbirth. Enlarged labia may cause self-consciousness and contribute to physical discomfort during intercourse and irritation during athletic and physical activities.
Dr. G performs labiaplasty to cosmetically enhance the labia minora (inner labia) and/or labia majora (outer labia) for a trim, symmetrical appearance. During the procedure, Dr. G carefully reshapes the labia, in some cases using liposuction to refine the contours of the mons pubis in addition to the labia. If the labia majora appears deflated, he uses a fat grafting to further improve the appearance.
This surgery may be performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on your personal preferences and my recommendation. After surgery, you’ll wear a dressing that’s similar to a menstrual pad, and should rest for the first several days. Discomfort can be alleviated with cold compresses, and you can resume normal daily activities after about a week, although exercise or sexual intercourse should wait for 4 to 6 weeks after your labiaplasty.
From your consultation and treatment, to recovery and beyond, Remedi is committed to ensuring that you feel safe, supported and comfortable. For more information on labiaplasty, or to schedule a consultation with Dr. G, please call (619) 437-1388.
